HOCL Irrigator Concentrate

12 total reviews

Hydro Floss Solutions HOCl Irrigator Concentrate is designed for use with oral irrigators to support your daily oral hygiene routine. When added to your irrigator, it works alongside the natural flushing action of water to help remove debris and support a cleaner, healthier mouth.

The formula contains hypochlorous acid (HOCl), a substance naturally produced by the body’s immune system. HOCl has been studied for its ability to help inactivate a wide range of microorganisms through oxidation.

When used in an oral irrigator, the solution is delivered throughout hard-to-reach areas between teeth and along the gumline, supporting effective irrigation beyond brushing and flossing alone.

How HOCL Works

Hypochlorous acid is a substance your body already makes. Certain white blood cells (neutrophils) produce HOCl as part of the normal immune response to help control microorganisms.

From a chemistry standpoint, HOCl is a mild oxidizing agent. That means it can react with and disrupt essential components of microbial cells:

  • Cell membranes HOCl alters lipids and proteins in the outer membrane, increasing permeability and causing leakage of cellular contents.
  • Proteins and enzymes It oxidizes key amino acids, which can inactivate enzymes needed for survival.
  • Genetic material It can damage nucleic acids, interfering with replication.

Because these effects occur at multiple sites, HOCl demonstrates broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against bacteria, viruses, and fungi in laboratory settings.

HOCl is considered biocompatible at appropriate concentrations, meaning it can be used on living tissues when properly formulated, without the same level of irritation associated with some stronger antiseptics.

How HOCL Benefits Oral Heah

For someone managing gum disease, dental implants, or orthodontic appliances, here’s how an HOCl-based oral irrigator additive may help as part of a daily routine:

Supports reduction of oral bacteria -Helps lower the number of bacteria in hard-to-reach areas when used with an oral irrigator.

Enhances mechanical cleaning - Works alongside the flushing action of irrigation to help remove debris and bacteria around the gumline and between teeth.

Reaches difficult areas - May improve access to areas that are harder to clean with brushing and flossing alone, such as around dental implants, under orthodontic wires and brackets, along periodontal pockets

Gentle for frequent use - Formulations using HOCl are designed to be compatible with oral tissues when used as directed.

Freshen the oral environment - Helps maintain a cleaner-feeling mouth as part of regular hygiene.

Adjunct to routine care - Intended to be used in addition to brushing, flossing, and professional dental care—not as a replacement.

Clinically Proven

When evaluated by Tufts University, Hydro Floss Solutions HOCL Irrigator Concentrate was shown to be highly effective against the bacteria that cause gum disease and cavities (P.gingivalis and S.mutans )
