An 82 year-old female in good health presented with inflammation and pain with a necrotic exude coming from around the root from implants in the central and lateral incisor areas that had been in function for 12 months.
The implants were slightly mobile and were grossly contaminated with plaque and calculus. She said that she had her implants cleaned frequently, every four to six weeks.
She was provided with a new manual toothbrush and a Hydro Floss® unit and instructed in their use. The inflammation was resolved with 14 days. The patient is currently asymptomatic and the prosthesis is rigid and firm.
